Advent, a season of preparation for Christmas, begins November 27.

On Sundays, we will gather to discuss a sermon of Barth’s at 10a, then hear a sermon on the same scripture during worship.  On Tuesdays, during our Conversations at Create, we will be looking at some of Barth’s writing on Jesus- who he is and why it matters.  More information and all readings are available under the formations tab.

A new service of Morning Prayer began last week and will be ongoing: Tuesdays at 8:45a in the sanctuary.  Join us as we pray for our community, our concerns, and our world.

During Victorian Christmas, on Saturday, December 3, Holy Trinity will be hosting an afternoon of music and art.  From 1p-5p different musicians will be performing in our sanctuary and our parish hall and sanctuary will be filled with local art.  The events are free and open to everyone.  Come enjoy some Christmas cheer!

Additionally, that day we are a hosting one of the wineries for the Chamber of Commerce Wine Walk.  That event requires a ticket, which can be obtained here.

Fieldstone is back!  Together with the Jefferson County History Center, we will welcome back this fantastic Irish band to our space on December 19th at 7p.  Tickets are $10 at the door, which benefits the history center.

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day:

During the day on Christmas Eve, we will be making bagged lunches to distribute to folks in the community on Christmas Day.  Stop by between 1-4p to help out!  Then on Christmas Day, we will take the meals around town at 12:30p.  If you would like a Christmas lunch delivered to you, please email vicarmelinda@gmail.com with your name and address.

Join us as we celebrate the birth of Christ with a service of carols, candle-lighting, and Eucharist on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, at 6:30p.  Then on Christmas Day, let’s take joy into the streets: meet us to Christmas carol in the neighborhoods of Brookville at 1p on Dec. 25 in the bank parking lot across from Holy Trinity.

Sunday November 20 is Acoustic Worship, at 11a.  After worship we will be cleaning and prepping the buildings for the Victorian Christmas events.  You are invited to wear your work clothes to worship.  We will have a light lunch before beginning the cleaning, etc.

Sunday November 6 is our celebration of All Saints’ Day.  Join us as we remember the saints who played a role in our lives, using a prayer drawn from the poetry of John Donne.

We’ve begun our new series for Conversations at Create (held at the Create Cafe, Tuesdays, 9:30a).  It’s called Crash Course in Systematics.  Don’t freak out!  Here’s the deal.  We often leave the reading of theological material to priests and academics, but anyone can read it and be edified by doing so.  For a few weeks, we are going to read and unpack the writings of famous Christian theologians, including Augustine, Bonhoeffer, Basil, and more.   You can download the readings, listen to the sessions, and find more information under the formation tab.  Come enjoy a cup of joe, a good conversation, and explore your own spirituality.  This week: Dietrich Bonhoeffer and the Cost of Discipleship.

The diocesan mission to Santiago begins this Friday.  The team of folks from all across our diocese will spend the week as assisting with a vacation Bible school, painting, and hosting am eyeglass clinic.  Keep the team, the community, and the parish of Christo Salvador in your prayers particularly this week and look for blogs about the week on The Forward.
